The Niverville Nighthawks are currently accepting applications for the role of Assistant Coach, part-time.

DEPARTMENT: Hockey Operations

REPORTS TO: General Manager / Head Coach Kelvin Cech

JOB SUMMARY: The Niverville Nighthawks are entering their second season of play in the Manitoba Junior Hockey League. The MJHL’s member teams compete in regular season play between the middle of September and the end of March, with playoffs to follow. The MJHL’s national championship, the Centennial Cup, takes place annually in the middle of May.

SCOPE: All camps, practices, and games at the discretion of the General Manager between late August and the conclusion of the team’s season.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Key duties will differ based on the skill-set of the successful applicant, though a general outline of responsibilities is as follows:

  • Support the GM / Head Coach in roster construction and teambuilding
  • Assist the GM / Head Coach in planning and executing practices
  • Lead pre and post-practice on-ice skill development work
  • Assist the equipment manager with travel and day to day equipment requirements
  • Contribute to a culture of integrity, growth, and commitment on the ice and in the community

Previous playing and coaching experience at junior, college, and professional levels will be considered, though primary consideration will be given to candidates who demonstrate an intrinsic ability to be a positive influence on the culture of the Nighthawks on a daily basis. This commitment includes being a positive, supportive influence for the players as well as the GM / Head Coach.
