The OCN Blizzard management have announced the hiring of new coaching staff. Ryan Wood and Chris Perchaluk will be joining as new bench bosses and both will be holding office of Associate Head Coaches while Ryan will also be working as Assistant General Manager with Greg Hunter who holds the office of General Manager of OCN Blizzard. OCN Blizzard is also pleased to announce Nic Rusak as Assistant Coach for the team. “It took us a while to come up with a final decision about the coaching staff which we believe are highly competitive and hardworking people and who can make sure of a very strong team for the coming season. All of these gentlemen who will be working under seasoned person like Greg Hunter and together they are bringing the skillset which we were looking for and they have our full support and confidence to build a great team.” said both owners Salman Dhillon and Usman Dhillon on hiring new bench bosses.
About New Coaches:
Ryan Wood - Associate Head Coach and Assistant General Manager
Basically from Manitoba and aboriginal roots with his mother from Peguis First Nation in Manitoba Ryan was Head Coach and General Manager for Kirkland Miners Junior A in Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League for last two years, where his team ending second points leader in the regular season in eastern division and 4th in the Playoffs last year. He has an experience of 7 years with Junior Hockey. Ryan has a record of several NCAA, CIS, NAHL, OHL and several other commits. He was also team NOJHL Coach for Eastern Canada Cup and has a history of successful Junior Hockey Seasons.
Chris Perchulak - Associate Head Coach
Chris is a well-known name in the tri-community for his passion for hockey, physical fitness and work for minor hockey. Chris played two years of Junior A level of Hockey with Melfort Mustangs in SJHL and one season with OCN Blizzard. Since 2005 Chris has been coaching minor Hockey in The Pas. He has been Head Coach of The Pas Huskies at every level. Under his leadership The Pas Huskies AA won silver medal in provincials, won several tournaments and he was named TPMH Coach of the Year twice.
Nic Rusak - Assistant Coach
From Cranberry Portage, Nic is also a local hockey talent who is widely respected for his coaching skills. Nic was Associate Coach of Team North for winter games in 2017-18. He was also Assistant
Coach for Norman Wolves AAA from 2017 to 2019. Nic has been involved with hockey coaching since 2008 and he was also on the scouting team of OCN Blizzard.
OCN Blizzard is also holding a Texas Hold’Em Tournament on July 20th at Gordon Lathlin Memorial Arena. Tickets are available at Fas Gas, 102.9 CJAR, Funky Threads. Shell, Shanes Music and Wescanna Inn.
